Recurring Dreams
It isn’t often that I get recurring dreams. When one does get recurring dreams, it’s usually telling you something. It could be how your feeling, or relaying a message that’s sitting in the back of your mind. These dreams can go on and on for days, sometimes weeks, even months or years.
Luckily the one I had way back in 1994 when I had just broken up with this guy named John because he was seeing some other girl behind my back and his friend Eddie was the one that told me about it. Eddie and I ended up going out towards the end of that summer. He and I had been talking for a few weeks before and he was kind of seeing my friend Josie at the time. Out of nowhere Eddie had told me that he was going into Job Corps at San Marcos Tx. A week before he left I kept having this dream where I was flying like one inch off the ground, and down the street to the house but I would never go in. I’d get to the door and then I’d wake up. At that time I had no idea why I kept having the same dream over and over again and it was as if I had, had this dream before since the first day. After the third day I paid no mind to the dream. The day came for Eddie to leave for San Marcos, and that night the dream changed, I dreamt of myself flying that one inch off the ground and towards the door, only this time I went inside.
For days and days I had dreams of being inside that house, going into one room looking around then seeing a door across the way, opening it only to find it lead into another room. At one point in the dream I thought I was outside because one of the rooms had been made to look like a backyard that I had seen somewhere before in my life. It had an old swing set that was really rusty with broken swing seats and busted chains. The grass was really tall, the entire room had a fence where the wall would be and in the center was one of those old Cherub fountains with dirty green water, frogs and moss pretty much covering the cracks. I managed to make my way across the tall grass to open the door only for it to lead to the room I remember having when I was a child. The reason I remember it was because of the wall decorations it had which were two children walking under umbrellas. These dreams went on for about a few weeks, going in one room opening to the next. Then there was a call on the phone, it was Eddie.
Eddie had called me about four weeks later telling me he had come back, it was that night that I dreamt I was in a room, then opened the door only to finally..finally…FINALLY find my way out. When I opened the door the first thing I saw were the flashing lights of then entire San Antonio emergency crew. There was police, fire dept. you name it they were there! My parents were there too waiting for me. It was as if they had sent out a search crew to find me knowing I had gone into the house but was lost inside and unable to find my way out. When I woke up, I realized that the dreams I had been having with that particular house was just me feeling lost with out Eddie being around at that time, because he and I were just starting to develope a relationship at the time.
The following year we made our relationship official and became a couple in Feb of 95 when I was a senior in high school. I honestly don’t really know why this dream still sticks in my head, but I can tell you that since then I’ve not really had any other recurring dreams like that. I guess it’s all depending on whats going on in your life. If something is troubling you and you don’t know it, recurring dreams may start to happen. Oh! And if you’re wondering what happened with Eddie and me well I’ll tell you. We got engaged in 1998, then broke up the same year two weeks before Christmas. We’ve not really spoken to each other since but last I saw of him he had a son.
